The song which gives the key to perfection
David Sylvian (album Everything and Nothing / Camphor)
siddha kunjika stotram
The song which gives the key to perfection
siva uvaca
Siva said
smu devi pravaksyami kunjika stotram uttamam yena mantraprabhavena candijapah subho bhavet
Listen, Oh Goddess, while I elucidate the excellent song which gives the key to perfection. By means of the brilliance of these mantras, the meditation of the goddess Chandi becomes easy.
na kavacam nargala stotram kilakam na rahasyakam na suktam napi dhyanam ca na nyaso na ca varcanam
Not the armor, nor the praise which unlocks the bolt, nor the praise which removes the pin, nor the secrets: neither the hymns, nor even the meditations, nor the establishment of the mantras into the body nor the offering of worship and adoration.
kunjika patha matrena durga phalam labhet
ati guhyataram devi devanamapi durlabham
The recitation of the mantras which give the key will grant the fruits of the recitation of the glory of the goddess. Oh Goddess, this is extremely secretive and difficult even for the Gods to attain.

gopaniyam prayatnena svayoniriva parvati maranam mohanam vasyam stambhanoccata nadikam
patha matrenam mohanam vasyam stambhanoccata nadikam
patha matrena samsiddhyet kunjika stotram uttamam
Oh self-born Goddess, pArvatI, with right effort mAraNa (the capacity to slay anger, passion and the Ego), mohaNa (to become stupefied knowing none other than the Godess, vashIkAraNa (to make the mind sit still), stambhana (to restrain the senses from wandering), ucccAtana (to become solely absorbed in the attainment of enlightenment), and all other attainments come to perfection by means of the recitation of the excellent mantras of the Song That Gives the Key to Perfection. Hence this is to be kept secret by all means.

This is the song That gives the Key to Perfection, the primary cause of awakening these mantras. This must be kept hidden from non-devotees. Oh pArvati, the secret must be protected.
yastu kunjikaya devi hinam saptasatim pathet na tasya jayate siddhir aranye rodanam yatha
Oh Goddess, whoever will recite the Seven Hundred Verses without the key will not attain success, and his recitation will produce an effect similar to crying in the forest.
